Meet Kelly!

Kelly is a mom to be who drastically overhauled her life four years ago. Now she is down 90 pounds and couldn't be happier with career! We are so excited to show you how this woman is helping the lives of so many others, which what makes her an amazing VEP!

Q: So tell me a little about yourself!

A: My name is Kelly Valdez and I am a 27 year old mama to be who has been through quite the journey over the past 4 years! I began my journey at 234lbs, just wanting to lose weight and then morphed it into running half marathons, competing in a figure competition, becoming a certified personal trainer and doing what I LOVE! After losing about 90lbs and changing my life completely, I decided to help others and try to spread the idea of self love through every stage to the masses. I am so blessed to be able to do what I do and I couldn’t have “fallen” into a better career path.

Q: What do you love most about Instagram?

A: I LOVE that I am able to reach so many amazing people all over the world!! When I first started my Instagram, it was to find motivation for myself. It helped me to see other people losing weight and pushing themselves; it made me want to do the same (if not better!). So, I just began sharing my journey and my reach grew organically. I think you can really tell when an account is truly putting themselves out there for the right reasons, and people must have saw that. I’m so grateful that so many people love and support me through every stage of my life. I love being able to share my life and help others who might be struggling through the same circumstances. It really is a gift that I never take for granted!

Q: If you could give your followers one piece of advice in regards to starting their own

A: One of my mantras is to just do it. Just get started and keep it simple. You don’t need a million fitness/weightloss journey, what would it be? supplements or a gym pass to lose weight. All you need is to get moving, watch your diet and KEEP GOING. This journey is HARD. It seems IMPOSSIBLE at times. There is a reason why so many people fail; but, if I could bottle up the feeling I get every day when I get to do things I never was able to do for most of my life – more people would be successful! It’s an amazing feeling and it is worth fighting for! My second (and even more important mantra) is to love yourself and respect yourself through every stage of your journey. Sure, you might not be where you’re at now, but you still have worth. You still have value. And we need to see that more. Society needs to love themselves more through the bad times, through the good. We are ALL beautiful human beings and I don’t think we give ourselves enough credit in general.

Q: What is your go-to pump up song on your workout playlist?

A: It really depends on what type of workout I am doing. I listen to everything from pop to hard rock to old school metal. When I lift, I like a little Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Scorpions etc. When I go for early morning runs, I like more soft and melodic music. Me and Christina Perry started my running journey out together and she is still one of my favorite stations to tune into!

Q: What’s one movie you never get tired of watching?

A: Hocus Pocus and Christmas Vacation. My family watches these EVERY year together and I love it! I also love the Halloween series, Top Gun, and pretty much any horror, old western, or war movie. A good chick flick is great every now and then too!

Q: What’s your favorite way to enjoy ENLIGHTENED crisps? How about the ice cream?

A: I always put the crisps out for parties. People LOVE to eat them straight out of the bowl and always want to know what they are. I also love to use them as a coating for chicken or onion rings. The ice cream is amazing in an ice cream sandwich or just straight out of the wrapper! I can’t get enough of them.

Q: Mexican or Italian food?

A: MEXICAN! I am obsessed with burritos during this pregnancy!!! And I LOVE spicy food!

Q: A week spent traveling or a week long stay-cation?

A: I work from home so definitely a week spent traveling! I love to see new places and enjoy new cultures.

Q: At home workouts or gym workouts?

A: I feed off of the energy of other people so I would say gym. But an awesome group track workout is always fun!

Q: ENLIGHTENED Ice cream or crisps?

A: Crisps! They are more portable and great for traveling or parties!
