How to Throw a DIY Pizza Party

Filling your home with friends and food is always a good time. Cooking for 10+, however… Not so much. The shopping, prep, and cleanup can take hours and tons of energy. Dinner parties also have a certain pressure to them, what with the perfect food, table setting, conversation, and outfit. Wouldn’t a pizza party be so much easier?

Not just any pizza party, of course. This is a DIY pizza party worthy of dinner party status. It takes the fun of the pizza parties of your youth and mixes them up with a dash of sophistication. Not only is the food more fun to prepare and eat, a DIY pizza party has a built-in activity. It’s a great idea when bringing together people who might not have met before. Nothing breaks the ice like pizza!

A DIY pizza party allows your guests to contribute ingredients, participate in a fun activity, and cuts your hosting duties in half. Anyone who says you’re too old for a pizza party doesn’t know how to have a good time. ;) We’ve broken down what you’ll need for your very own DIY pizza party below, just to make it that much easier.

What You’ll Need

  • Small bowls (love our planet and choose reusable!)

  • Pizza base

  • Sauce

  • Spoons

  • Pizza cutter

  • Baking sheets

  • An oven

The Set Up

  1. On a long counter or table, set out small bowls for toppings

  2. Leave room along one or both edges for guests to place their pizza

  3. Place baking sheets at the end of the table for finished pizzas

  4. On a separate table, arrange Real Good Pizzas on individual plates for guests to pick up and customize

The Base

A pizza party is meant to be about fun and creativity aka piling on all the best toppings and making wild pizzas! Use Real Good Pizza as your base to pack in the nutrients (25g protein!) and better spend your time customizing your pizza, not prepping it. There’s only 4g of carbs per pizza, so you have plenty of room to top till you drop. Once you customize, pop the whole thing in the oven to bake!

The Toppings

The more options, the more crazy combos with which to experiment. We’ve pulled together a few recipes for inspiration, but use the list below to get creative with your pizza.

  • Fresh basil

  • Extra cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, brie, goat, gouda)

  • Tomato

  • Spinach

  • Pepper

  • Pineapple

  • Onions (red, white, and grilled)

  • Corn

  • Squash

  • Peppers

  • Pepperoni, salami, prosciutto, buffalo chicken, hamburger meat, and ham

  • Roasted Broad Bean Crisps (for extra flavor & protein!)

  • Zucchini

  • Mushroom

  • Olives

  • Olive oil
