Its sooo much harder to stay motivated when it’s freezing outside. The gym seems further, the grocery store seems more tiring and Uber seems to be your only option to get around (sorry wallet). Well, ENLIGHTENED is up for a challenge! We want to find some fun ways to stay active and motivated in the winter. Step 1: Move away from the snuggly comforter.
2. GO ICE SKATING! It doesn't matter if you’ve never put on a pair of skates before, ice skating is a such a fun activity and a great way to keep your body moving (whether willingly or not) during those cold winter months. You can go with a couple friends, make it a family outing, or if you’re feeling romantic you can even take your date out on the ice!
3. PHOTO SHOOT TIME. You know what makes for a great profile picture? A wintery wonderland background or shiny holiday decorations!! Grab a friend or go ~selfie style~ and walk around your town/city to find the best places to take fun winter pics. Instead of driving around and seeing all your neighbors holiday decorations take this opportunity to walk and be able to stop and appreciate what makes the winter season so special ( while getting in some light cardio! #WORK ).
4.STAY ENERGIZED. During the winter we tend to eat foods that are heavier and less fresh. This could be because it’s cold out and all we want is some warm comfort food to curl up with. It could also have to do with the fact that aunt Janet made your favorite frosted gingerbread cookies and insisted on sending you some in bulk. Either way, eating poorly will definitely stifle your motivation and deprive you of the energy you need to be active. So, instead try to find food that is seasonal, good for you, AND yummy. For starters you can try our Sweet Cinnamon Roasted Broad Beans. These will definitely compete with aunt Janet’s cookies. You can also find which fruits and vegetables are in season this month and then choose recipes that use those ingredients, like our Sweet Potato and Crisp pair up!
ENLIGHTENED is ready for the cold!! Hopefully these tips will help keep you moving and grooving throughout the winter season, too!
